Shruti Kotian is a dynamic professional with expertise in software engineering and product management. Her journey began as a computer science student at the University of Mumbai, where she built a strong technical foundation that launched her career as a senior software engineer. While this role was enriching, Kotian aspired to make a broader impact by contributing to products that transform the way the world interacts with technology. This ambition led her to pursue a master’s in information systems at Northeastern University. Drawn to the program’s flexibility and its blend of business and software engineering coursework, she gained invaluable insights and skills under the mentorship of distinguished leaders such as Professors Kal Bugrara, Yusuf Ozbek, and Maricla Pirozzi. This experience also helped her hone essential communication skills for navigating the corporate landscape.
Building on this strong academic foundation, Kotian cultivated a deep appreciation for understanding not just how technology works, but also why it matters and what value it delivers to users. This curiosity and drive to create meaningful impact steered her towards a career in product management, where she thrives in bridging the gap between technology and business to deliver innovative solutions.
Eager to further enhance her strategic capabilities, Kotian completed a six-month, part-time executive education program at the prestigious Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management.
In her current role at McKinsey & Company, Kotian leverages these advanced tools and methodologies to drive impactful outcomes and lead large cross-functional teams
Beyond her professional achievements, Kotian is deeply committed to giving back to the community. She volunteers with the Boston Food Bank and actively participates in initiatives that promote women in STEM, such as the Grace Hopper Celebration—a platform that champions women technologists globally. Additionally, she has served as a panelist for Navigate the Maze to Achievement (NTMA), a New York-based non-profit dedicated to empowering underrepresented students in their preparation for the Specialized High School Admissions Test and beyond. Kotian is also deeply passionate about advocating for girls’ right to education and providing supportive services, advocacy, safety, resources, and community education for survivors of domestic violence and battered women.
A true multi-faceted individual, Kotian’s personal life is as vibrant as her career. She is currently training as an Indian classical Kathak dancer, a passion that highlights her dedication to India’s cultural heritage and artistry. She is an avid reader who finds inspiration in travel and exploration. Weightlifting and staying active are integral to her lifestyle, underscoring her commitment to personal growth and wellness. Shruti’s hobbies and interests reflect her belief in living a balanced and enriched life, which fuels her creativity and drive both professionally and personally.
